Myrtice West, a self-taught artist in Centre, Alabama,
is a leading figure in “outsider” and “visionary”
art. Her work has been called a cross between Grandma Moses and
Hieronymus Bosch, and she has been compared with other renowned
outsider, visionary artists such as Howard Finster, Sister Gertrude
Morgan, Norbert Kox, and William Blayney. Her paintings are in numerous
museums and private collections.
